Concert by the Los Angeles alt-pop trio The Strike at the Crescent Ballroom, part of the Psyko Steve Presents series.
The Strike play Crescent Ballroom on Sunday, December 13, as part of the Psyko Steve Presents series. They're an alt-pop trio from Los Angeles, fronted by Chris Crabb, with drummer Jay Tibbitts and keyboardist/guitarist David Maemone. The show starts at 8 PM.
If you're just getting caught up, there's a fair amount of ground to cover. Their 2022 album The Lost Years was a collection of songs they wrote during the COVID-19 pandemic, and their third record, A Dream Through Open Eyes, came out in 2024 through Nettwerk. They've also put out a new single, "Famous," which is the first taste of their forthcoming fourth album. Between the two records and the new single, there's plenty of material to pull from for a single set.
Now in his 30s, Crabb has talked about where the lyrics are coming from these days. He says the band's writing draws on their growing maturity and on what they want to be known for by the people closest to them. It's a bit of a shift from the pandemic-era songs that made up The Lost Years, and you can hear that change in the newer material.
