The Grammy Award-winning New Orleans brass band performs live at the Musical Instrument Museum, blending traditional brass band sounds with jazz, funk and R&B.
The Dirty Dozen Brass Band play the Musical Instrument Museum on Monday, December 28, 2026, at 7 PM. It's a New Orleans brass band that's been around since 1977, and they've picked up a GRAMMY along the way. They've spent more than 45 years at the front of contemporary brass music, and they're still touring and recording.
The sound they're known for comes from mixing the traditional foundation of a New Orleans brass band with bebop jazz, funk, and R&B/soulāa blend they call a "musical gumbo." That improvisational style has taken them across five continents and more than 30 countries, and they've put out 12 studio albums. Along the way, they've collaborated with artists as different as Norah Jones, Modest Mouse, and Widespread Panic.
