A family-friendly Halloween trunk or treat with decorated trunks, games, a pumpkin patch and costume contest.
Slopetacular Trunk or Treat comes to the Sunnyslope Community Center on Saturday, October 17, from 5 PM to 7 PM. It's a family-friendly Halloween celebration, and the main draw is the trunk-or-treat itself: cars parked in a single lot with their trunks decorated, handing out candy to the kids. Instead of walking door to door through the neighborhood, everyone gathers in one spot, which is why it's often pitched as a safer alternative to traditional trick-or-treating.
Beyond the candy, there's a full spread of activities. A pumpkin patch will be set up for picking out a pumpkin, and there are games and a costume contest for the kids to enter. It's the kind of afternoon that works well if you've got little ones who want to show off their costumes without the long trek around the block.
This is one of several free, family-friendly celebrations Phoenix Parks and Recreation is staging across the city for the fall season. The Slopetacular edition sits alongside other community trunk-or-treats, lively inflatables, and spooky attractions as the city's parks transform for autumn. If you're looking for a low-stress way to get the kids into the Halloween spirit, this is a good place to start.
