Evening tours of the Rosson House at Heritage Square exploring the Victorian fascination with the supernatural and seances.
Heritage & Science Park is running the Seances and Spiritualists Tour throughout the second half of October, with the first tour kicking off tomorrow, Friday, October 16. It's an evening walk through the Rosson House at Heritage Square that looks at the Victorian obsession with the supernatural.
The tour focuses on how people of that era tried to communicate with the dead through seances, and it touches on a part of the period that's easy to forget: visiting the morgue was once considered a form of entertainment. You'll wander up into the attic to hear the ghost stories that haunted the nineteenth century, and while the tour doesn't perform a seance itself, it spends its time in the history of the period.
There are plenty of dates to choose from if tomorrow doesn't work for you. Beyond Friday the 16th, the tour runs Saturday the 17th, Thursday the 22nd, Saturday the 24th, Tuesday the 27th, Wednesday the 28th, Thursday the 29th, and Friday the 30th. Every one of them starts at 7 PM, so you can pick a night that fits your schedule.
