New Orleans soul singer and former Maroon 5 keyboardist PJ Morton performs live on his Saturday Night Sunday Morning Tour at the MIM Music Theater.
PJ Morton plays the MIM Music Theater on Thursday, November 5, at 7:30 PM. He's coming through Phoenix as part of his Saturday Night Sunday Morning Tour, which takes its name from the double album that sits at the center of the run.
If you're not familiar with the record, the title tells you exactly how it's split. The Saturday Night side is dedicated to R&B and soul, and the Sunday Morning side is a gospel love letter to growing up as a pastor's kid. It's a double album that works its way across music and faith, race and culture, and the tour follows that same line.
Morton is a New Orleans soul singer, songwriter, performer, and producer with six Grammys and 22 nominations to his name. He's also been recognized by the BET Awards, the Soul Train Awards, and the NAACP Image Awards. For more than 15 years, he's been the full-time keyboardist for Maroon 5, and along the way he's collaborated with Stevie Wonder, Erykah Badu, Jon Batiste, Nas, and Jill Scott. He's played out historic rooms like the Apollo Theater and the Kennedy Center, so this Phoenix stop is part of a career that's spent a lot of time on the road.
