Solo concert by Keith Nieto, saxophonist and former leader of the norteƱo group La Maquinaria NorteƱa, at Rancho Ochoa.
Keith Nieto plays Rancho Ochoa on Saturday, October 17, at 6 PM. He's a saxophonist, songwriter, composer, and music producer who first made his name as the leader of the norteƱo group La Maquinaria NorteƱa. A Regional Mexican artist from Roswell, New Mexico, he's earned several Latin Grammy Award nominations and has built his solo career in the norteƱo sax genre in partnership with Azteca Music Group. His most recent release is Nada, Nada, which came out in 2024.
If you're not familiar with the norteƱo sax sound, it's a specific branch of Regional Mexican music where the saxophone takes the melodic lead over the accordion that usually defines the genre. It's a style Nieto has spent years refining as a solo artist, and Nada, Nada is the latest addition to that body of work. Coming from Roswell, he's carried that New Mexico influence into his career, and the Latin Grammy nominations point to the kind of recognition he's found within the broader Regional Mexican scene.
This is a solo bill, so the night is built around his set. The music sits firmly in the norteƱo tradition, with the saxophone front and center. If you've followed his work since the La Maquinaria NorteƱa days, this is a chance to hear where he's landed as a solo act. If you're just getting into his music, Nada, Nada is the best place to start before the show.
