Western festival with a free street fest, the Million Dollar Rodeo and two nights of country and rock concerts at Chase Field.
The Hondo Rodeo Fest takes over Chase Field from November 13 to 15, bringing a rodeo, a concert series, and a street festival to downtown Phoenix. It's part of The World Series of Rodeo, and the professional contestants are competing for $1.2 million in prize money. The whole thing was started here in 2024 by James Trawick and Blake Cody, and they've built it around the idea of bringing rodeo, music, and Western culture together in one spot.
Each day follows the same three-part format, so you can drop in for one part or stay for all three. It starts at noon with a free street festival featuring food, shopping, brand activations, and live music. From 6:00 to 8:00 PM is the Million Dollar Rodeo, an invite-only eight-event all-star competition. Then, from 8:30 to 11:00 PM, there's a two-part concert series. The rodeo has already crowned Hondo champions across several disciplines: Bradlee Miller, Riley Webb, and Luke Mackey in Team Roping, and Kade Bruno in Saddle Bronc.
The music lineup changes every night. Friday, November 13, features Tim McGraw and Miranda Lambert. Saturday, November 14, brings in Blake Shelton and Turnpike Troubadours. Sunday, November 15, closes it out with Parker McCollum and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Each night pairs two acts, so you get a full bill of country and southern rock to go with the rodeo. If you're only picking one day, that's the easiest way to decide.
