Community clean-up event in the Grand Avenue neighbourhood in preparation for the Grand Avenue Festival.
The Flock and the Grand Avenue Members Association are teaming up for a neighborhood clean-up on Saturday, October 17, starting at 9 AM. They're meeting at HawkSalvage, 1109 Grand Ave, to spend the morning tidying up the Grand Avenue area. It's a community effort, and it's free to join.
The timing isn't random. The clean-up is part of the preparations for the Grand Avenue Festival, which kicks off the following week. If you've spent any time around Grand Avenue, you know how the neighborhood changes when the festival hits—the streets fill up, and the whole area becomes the center of attention for a few days. This is the groundwork that happens before the crowds arrive, getting the neighborhood ready for the festival's opening.
It's a straightforward morning: you show up at HawkSalvage, grab a spot on the team, and help clear out the litter and debris from the neighborhood. The two groups organizing it, The Flock and the Grand Avenue Members Association, are both rooted in the area, so this is a local effort to make sure the streets look their best before the festival brings everyone in. If you're around and want to put in a few hours for the neighborhood, it's a good way to get involved before the main event starts.
