Free, family-friendly Halloween celebration with live entertainment, costume contests, complimentary candy, inflatable attractions and a trunk-or-treat.
BooFest returns to Paseo Highlands Park on Saturday, October 24, from 6 PM to 9 PM. It's a free, family-friendly community celebration run by Phoenix Parks and Recreation as part of the city's Phoenix Parks Fall Fun round, now in its 23rd annual edition.
The evening mixes live entertainment and costume contests with complimentary candy and treats, inflatable attractions, and a children's train ride. There's also a trunk-or-treat vehicle decoration contest with a prize up for grabs. Trunk-or-treat itself dates back to the 1990s, when churches, schools, and other community groups began staging it as a safer alternative to traditional trick-or-treating: instead of going house to house, children visit a single designated location where a line of decorated cars hands out candy. The event is supported by a wide range of local partners.
