Birdie Nichols and Never Blü

Birdie Nichols plays the North Mountain Visitor Center Coffeehouse on Saturday, October 24, at 10 AM. It's a country set, and she's the sole bill.

Nichols draws from the country legends—Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, and Willie Nelson—and builds her sound around deep, honest lyrics and an authentic western feel she describes as coming from a love of the American frontier. She plays mandolin, viola, and guitar, so you'll hear her moving between them throughout the set.

Outside of her solo work, she's part of the Australian show-band The Butler Band, which she shares with Shaza Leigh Butler OWB, Lachlan Butler, and Peggy Gilchrist. That's a different animal from the solo country she's bringing here, so this is a good chance to hear her on her own.

The show is free, and it starts at 10 AM on Saturday morning at the North Mountain Visitor Center Coffeehouse in Phoenix.
