Costume ball with live music, a haunted cabaret show and a food truck at Alwun House Foundation.
Alwun House hosts the 27th Monsters Ball on Friday, October 30, from 7 PM to 11:59 PM. It's a costume ball, and the organizers ask guests to arrive in fancy dress. The night is built around a stage show and live music, with a food truck on site.
Popular Star opens the evening. They're a band of wacky weirdos whose blend of aural textures and raw zany energy sets an eclectic sonic tone for the rest of the night. After them comes Cirque du Ghoulesque, a haunted cabaret whose performances flirt with the line between the scintillating and the sinister, mixing live vocals, erotic abandon, and spine-tingling gore. DJ Orbit Corbett keeps things moving between the acts.
At the bar, you'll find ales and the infamous Spider Venom, a shot rumored to inoculate against werewolves. For food, the Smokin' Amigos food truck serves grilled 'monster meats'.

The whole thing takes place at Alwun House Foundation, 1204 E Roosevelt St, a downtown Phoenix arts institution that's been using art to transform lives and the community for more than 40 years. Its roots go back to 1971, and it won a Governor's Arts Award in 2013. Locals credit it as a pioneer in the rebirth of cultural activity in Central Phoenix.
Tickets are $29, and the party runs from 7 PM until midnight on Friday, October 30.
