Literary conversation between NPR's Fresh Air book critic Maureen Corrigan and host Sam Briger, with a Q&A from the audience.
Maureen Corrigan will be at the WHYY Studio on Wednesday, October 21, for a moderated conversation hosted by Sam Briger. Corrigan is NPR's Fresh Air book critic, a writer, and a professor, and the evening is built around her life and work with books. Briger will lead the discussion, and the floor will open to the audience for a Q&A.
That second half is where the night really opens up. The Q&A gives you a chance to hear Corrigan's personal recommendations and her reflections on a life spent reading, reviewing, interviewing, and talking about books. It's also a look at the behind-the-scenes side of being a critic at the top of her field—the kind of perspective you don't usually get from the other side of the radio.
If you've followed her work on Fresh Air, you know she's one of the most prominent voices in book criticism today. This is a chance to hear her talk about the process of that work in person rather than through a broadcast. The conversation will be moderated by Sam Briger, and the audience will be able to ask their own questions.
