Arden Children's Theatre's family adaptation of L. Frank Baum's 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz', adapted and directed by Whit MacLaughlin.
Arden Children's Theatre is bringing The Wonderful Wizard of Oz to the Arden Theatre Company this winter, running from November 25, 2026, through January 17, 2027. It's a brand-new adaptation of L. Frank Baum's story, and it's part of the company's 2026/27 children's season.
Whit MacLaughlin is the one behind it—he adapted and directed the production. If that name sounds familiar, it's because he's the creator of some of Arden's other children's favorites: Charlotte's Web, A Year with Frog and Toad, and Peter Pan. This is a fresh take on the story rather than a revival, so it's a new production from the ground up.
The show is best suited for families with children ages 5 and older, and it runs on the F. Otto Haas Stage at 40 N. 2nd Street in Philadelphia. If you're bringing a group, there are discounts for parties of 10 or more, and student matinees are available for school groups.
