Nine-time Tony Award-winning Best Musical, The Book of Mormon, in its standing room only production at the Forrest Theatre.
The Book of Mormon plays the Forrest Theatre from January 26 to 31, 2027. It's the same show that's been running on Broadway and across North America for over a decade, and it's coming to Philadelphia for a short run at 1114 Walnut Street.
If you haven't seen it, the story follows two mismatched missionaries sent halfway across the world to spread the Good Word. It's an outrageous musical comedy that doesn't hold back on the satire. The show comes from the creators of South Park—Trey Parker and Matt Stone—who teamed up with Robert Lopez to write it. Parker also co-directed it with Casey Nicholaw. It took Broadway by storm in 2011, when it won the Tony Award for Best Musical, and it ended up collecting nine Tonys in total.
Since then, it's played to standing-room-only audiences in London, on Broadway, and across North America. The critics have been unusually unanimous about it: The New York Times called it "the best musical of this century," The Washington Post said it "is the kind of evening that restores your faith in musicals," and Entertainment Weekly gave it a Grade A, calling it "the funniest musical of all time." Jimmy Fallon of The Tonight Show described it as "Genius. Brilliant. Phenomenal."
