The international percussion show STOMP, created by Luke Cresswell and Steve McNicholas, brings its rhythm-filled spectacle to the Miller Theater.
STOMP is coming to the Miller Theater at 250 S. Broad St. in Philadelphia, with performances running from December 29, 2026, through January 3, 2027. It's an international percussion show created by Luke Cresswell and Steve McNicholas, and the whole thing is performed by an eight-member troupe. The hook is that they play everything but conventional percussion instruments: matchboxes, wooden poles, brooms, garbage cans, Zippo lighters, and hubcaps. It's a show built on the kind of rhythms you find in everyday life, played out on a stage.
It's been around long enough to gather a fair amount of awards and rave reviews, and it's appeared on plenty of national television shows. Critics have described it as "hot as ever" (San Francisco Chronicle), "a show-stopping, thrillingly dangerous... percussive spectacle" (Chicago Sun Times), and "a simply breathtaking exhibition of ingenuity, dance and rhythm" (Duluth News Tribune). The Boston Globe summed it up as: "If you haven't seen STOMP, GO! If you have seen it, take someone and share the pleasure!"

Logistically, the performance runs one hour and 45 minutes with no intermission, so you're in for the whole stretch without a break. It's recommended for ages 5 and older, which makes it an easy one to bring the kids to over the holiday break. With the run starting December 29 and going through January 3, you've got a few different dates to choose from if you're around the city between Christmas and New Year's.
