The Addams Family: The Musical, part of the 2026-27 Walnut Street Theatre mainstage season, brings the classic darkly comic musical to Philadelphia.
The Addams Family: The Musical is playing at the Walnut Street Theatre through November 1, part of the venue's 2026-27 mainstage season. Previews started September 22, and the show officially opened on September 30. It's a full-length musical that runs two and a half hours, with a 20-minute intermission in the middle.
If you're not familiar with the history, the Addams family started in 1938 with Charles Addams' cartoons. They didn't even have first names until the 1960s, well before they became household names on television and in a string of films throughout the 1990s. This stage version became a full Broadway musical in 2010, with a book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice and music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa. That production earned a Tony nomination and ran on Broadway until 2011, then toured internationally until 2021. This Philadelphia staging brings that same musical to the Walnut.
