Weekly drop-in session for teens to work with musical artist MB on performance practices and develop their own creative voice.
MB is leading a weekly series of teen drop-in sessions at the Joseph E. Coleman Northwest Regional Library this fall, running every Wednesday from October 14 through December 12. It's not a class with a syllabus or a set curriculum to follow; instead, it's an open space for young adults to work with MB on performance practices that express what makes them 'you.'
Because there's no fixed lesson plan, the sessions are built around whatever way of performing feels right to you. You can sing, rap, move, make magic, or tell stories—or mix a few of those together—and build your own creative voice from there. The whole point is to find the performing style that fits you, rather than fitting yourself into a specific mold. If you're a teen in the city with something to say and no particular stage to say it on, this is a place to start figuring out how you want to do it.
MB is a musical artist, and the library points to their own performance work as a reference for the kind of thinking that drives these sessions. The sessions are open to all young adults, and since it's a drop-in program, you can come in on a weekly basis rather than committing to the whole run at once. If you're just starting out or just want to experiment with a few different ways of performing, you can show up when it works for you.
