Weekly after-school craft meet-up for young adults with projects like blackout poetry, collage, painting and fiber arts.
Teen Craft Co-op meets at the Joseph E. Coleman Northwest Regional Library on Tuesday, October 20, from 3:30 to 5:30 PM. It's a weekly after-school craft meetup run as part of the library's youth programming, aimed at young adults. All skill levels are welcome, and the library provides the supplies, so you don't need to bring your own kit to get started.
The projects change from week to week, and the variety is one of the best things about it. You'll find people working on blackout poetry—where you take an existing page of text and black out words until a new poem emerges from what's left—alongside collage, painting, and fiber arts. Because it's a co-op, you can jump between different mediums or stick with one project over several sessions. If you've never touched a paintbrush or a needle before, that's fine; if you've been crafting for years, there's still room to hang out and make something new.
Since it's a weekly thing, you don't have to commit to a long-term class. You can drop in on a Tuesday afternoon when you're free and leave with something you actually made. It's as much about the making as it is about the company—a place to hang out and create something by hand after school.
