RJD2, Solar Circuit and Angelo Outlaw live at MilkBoy, presented by Philly Music Fest x Rising Sun.
RJD2 plays MilkBoy on Thursday, October 15, with Solar Circuit and Angelo Outlaw opening. The night is presented by Philly Music Fest and Rising Sun.
If you're not familiar, RJD2 is a Philadelphia-based DJ and multi-instrumentalist who first made a name for himself in the sample-based instrumental hip hop that earned him a reputation as an underground super-producer. He broke through with the 2002 album Dead Ringer, followed by the critically acclaimed Since We Last Spoke in 2004. He's known for recording, performing, arranging, and producing entirely on his own in his basement studio, pairing an MPC 2000XL sampler/sequencer with analog synths, electric pianos, guitars, and his own voice. His cinematic soundscapes and intricate arrangements have pulled in a following that reaches well beyond the hip-hop scene, and Ghostwriter is often cited as the track that best captures his signature style.
Solar Circuit and Angelo Outlaw open the bill, so the music starts before RJD2 takes the stage. MilkBoy is an intimate, primarily standing-room venue, and it's mostly 21+.
