Monthly poetry reading series featuring poets Juniper Danger and Samya Abu-Orf at Molly's Books and Records in South Philly.
Juniper Danger and Samya Abu-Orf are the featured poets at Molly's Books and Records on Friday, October 16, as part of the Poets @ Molly's reading series. The night is presented by Matt Kosinski, who pairs readings from poets with a chance to hang out with them and browse the bookstore. It's a monthly series, so this is just one of several poetry nights held throughout the year at the South Philly shop.
The format is straightforward: Danger and Abu-Orf take the floor for their readings, and when they're done, you can stick around to talk with them and look through the shelves. If you're a poet yourself and want to read at a future session, the series invites you to come out and say hello. The whole night is open to all ages, so it's as easy to bring a friend as it is to bring your kids.
Poets @ Molly's has become a regular fixture for the local poetry community, and the pairing of two poets in one evening keeps the energy moving. The bookstore setting adds its own particular mood to the room, and the open-invitation for future readers means the series is as much about building a local scene as it is about the individual readings.
