The 35th edition of the Philadelphia Film Festival, featuring films by Almodóvar, Danny Boyle and Martin McDonagh, with screenings, premieres and filmmaker Q&As across Center City and Old City.
The Philadelphia Film Festival returns from October 15 to 25, 2026, running across Center City and Old City. This is the 35th edition, presented by the Philadelphia Film Society, and it marks the society's own 25th anniversary. The festival is the centerpiece of 'Reel October,' the society's wider celebration that adds two weeks of 35mm screenings leading up to the main event.
Screenings take place at three venues: Film Society Center at 1412 Chestnut Street, Film Society Bourse at 400 Ranstead Street, and Film Society East at 125 S. 2nd Street. The program includes premieres, filmmaker Q&As, guest appearances, red carpet events, community programs, and meetups, with opening and closing night parties to bookend the run. There's also 'Film Festaurant Week,' which brings in local restaurants for the duration.
Two specific strands stand out. Filmadelphia spotlights stories with local connections. From the Vaults debuts a new 70mm projection system, showing Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey and Steven Spielberg's Close Encounters of the Third Kind in 70mm. The main festival lineup features films by Pedro Almodóvar, Danny Boyle, and Martin McDonagh, alongside work from Eisenberg, Duvernay, and Gray.
