Free dedication of a 120-foot mosaic by Philadelphia artist Eric Okdeh on Passyunk Avenue, part of East Passyunk Mural Arts Month 2026.
Eric Okdeh is unveiling his latest work, Passyunk Passeggiata, on Passyunk Avenue on Tuesday, October 27. It's a 120-foot mosaic that stretches across a low wall at 1628-44 Passyunk Ave, sitting right at the foot of Jared Bader's East Passyunk Historical Street Scenes. The dedication runs from 11 AM to 12 PM, and it's free to attend.
Okdeh built the piece around the history and everyday life of the avenue. He pulled in local references you'll recognize if you spend any time in the neighborhood: South Philly's iconic Tofani doors, and The Pythians, one of the first African American baseball clubs in the country, founded by civil rights activist Octavius V. Catto in 1866. Those sit alongside real storefronts, street scenes, and the familiar faces Okdeh observed while working on the avenue. It's a neighborhood portrait in glass.
Okdeh has been incorporating mosaic into murals for more than 20 years and has created over 60 murals across the city, but this is only his second wall constructed entirely of glass. The dedication is part of East Passyunk Mural Arts Month 2026, a citywide celebration of free, accessible public art led by Mural Arts, the City of Philadelphia's public art program.
