A unique happy hour pre-concert concert featuring The Philadelphia Orchestra conducted by Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider, with Mozart and Schumann, followed by an artist chat.
The Philadelphia Orchestra returns to Marian Anderson Hall at The Kimmel Center on Thursday, January 14, 2027, for another Orchestra After 5 concert. This one is led by Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider, who takes on double duty as both conductor and violin soloist. The program is built around the Rhineland, pairing two composers who left their mark there: Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 2 (about 21 minutes) and Schumann's Symphony No. 3, known as the Rhenish (about 31 minutes). The whole thing runs about an hour with no intermission.
There's a bit of a thread connecting the two. Schumann's Rhenish captures the awe he felt while making the region his home, and Mozart astonished audiences there as a child prodigy. The Rhineland's river views and vineyards have inspired artists and wine lovers for centuries, and this winter installment draws on that. It's a concise pairing—two composers, one region, and one hour of music.
If you've never been to Orchestra After 5, it's a different format than a standard night at the Kimmel. It's billed as Philadelphia's most unique happy hour: hour-long pre-concerts that bring the audience close to the artists, with behind-the-music stories, happy-hour specials, and a chance to chat with the stars afterward. The Philadelphia Inquirer called it "the freshest happy hour in town," and it's been named a Best Classical Outing.

The hall is in The Kimmel Center at 300 S Broad St, Philadelphia, PA 19102.
