A show by the all-male classical ballet company Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo, blending satire and virtuosic pointe work.
Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo are coming to the Zellerbach Theatre at the Annenberg Center on Friday, March 12, and Saturday, March 13, 2027. Most people know them as "the Trocks," and if you've never heard of them, they're an all-male, gender-bending classical ballet company. They build their shows around the great white-tights repertoire—Swan Lake is one of the staples—and they play it straight enough to honor the tradition while poking fun at every artistic conceit along the way.
The result is a mix of laugh-out-loud satire and genuine pointe work. It's the kind of thing that's hard to pin down: The New York Times noted that "parody and virtuosic technique work in glittering tandem," and the New York Post wrote that "the Trocks may show you how to laugh at ballet, but they also teach you to love it." They're an LGBT+ institution, and they're just as at home with dance aficionados as they are with newcomers, so you don't need to know your pliés from your pirouettes to get it.
