Weekly Tuesday chess club for young adults and school-age participants of any skill level, with chess sets provided.
The Kids and Teens Chess Club meets at the David Cohen Ogontz Library on Tuesday, October 27, and it's one of those things that's easy to keep coming back to. The club is open to young adults and school-age participants, so it's geared toward the younger crowd—kids, teens, and those just stepping into that young adult range.
The whole point is to learn, practice, and play chess, an ancient board game with roots in India going back 1,500 years. If you've never played before, this is a good place to start; if you already know your way around the board, it's a spot to get some games in. Any skill level is welcome, and the library provides chess sets for anyone who doesn't have one, so you don't need to bring your own gear to join in.

It's not just a one-off, either. The club runs most Tuesdays, so if you can't make this particular date, there's usually another chance coming up soon. The session is at 4 PM at the David Cohen Ogontz Library, 6017 Ogontz Avenue—at the corner of Church Lane and Ogontz Avenue—in Philadelphia, PA 19141-311.
