A legendary Cuban orchestra led by Juan de Marcos performs traditional and contemporary Cuban music within the 2026-27 Jazz Series.
Juan de Marcos & The Afro-Cuban All Stars play Miller Theater on Friday, October 30, at 7:30 PM. The show is part of the 2026-27 Jazz Series, so it's one of several jazz dates scheduled for the season.
If the name sounds familiar, it's because the band grew out of the Buena Vista Social Club, the recording and musical movement that reintroduced the world to Cuban music. The All Stars sat at the center of that phenomenon, and they've spent the years since preserving and expanding the island's music, bringing together some of its most venerable players alongside its newest stars. They've earned four GRAMMY nominations along the way.
Their sound blends traditional 1950s styles, from son montuno to timba, with contemporary sounds, and the lineup gathers multi-generational, top-tier Cuban musicians. Critics have described the result as pyrotechnic, virtuoso, and perpetually danceable, with audiences frequently dancing in the aisles. The Philadelphia date is part of the 2026-27 Jazz Series, which brings a sequence of jazz acts to the city over the coming months.
