Homecoming celebration of the Indian community at Penn with a musical brunch, a panel of Indian arts alumni and performances by Penn student groups, part of the Arts of India Festival.
Illuminating Arts of India comes to the Harold Prince Theatre on Saturday, November 14, as part of the Arts of India Festival. It's a morning that starts with a musical brunch at 10:30 AM and moves into a panel discussion at 11 AM, with performances from Penn student performing arts groups woven in. The whole thing is framed as a homecoming celebration of the creativity, culture, and community of the Indian community at Penn, bringing together alumni, students, and friends.
The panel is the center of the morning: Indian Penn alumni who've built careers in the performing arts and entertainment industry talk about their work and their paths. Alongside them, current Penn student groups perform, reimagining traditional Indian art forms for a new generation. It's a pairing that puts the established professionals and the students on the same stage, one group looking back at where they started and the other working with those same traditions in the present.
