EP release show by the Philadelphia band Groove Merchants, with Emily Drinker, at MilkBoy.
Groove Merchants play MilkBoy on Friday, November 6, at 6:15 PM. It's an EP release show, so they'll be debuting new material that night. They're joined by Emily Drinker, and the bill also lists Superpink and Christopher Burkholder.
The Groove Merchants are a Philadelphia-based band. They're a seven-piece drawn from some of the region's finest musicians, and they're frequently fronted by the three-piece OKC Horns. That particular setup is what lets them pivot from dinner jazz to the full power of popular hits in a single set, and it's a good idea to keep in mind for a night that's built around an EP release.
Since the show is an EP release, the new songs will be front and center. Between those and the top 40 material they've built their name on, the set should pull from a few different directions. The OKC Horns bring the brass, and the full seven-piece fills out the rest, so it's a larger ensemble than you'll find on a typical local bill.
