Live jazz concert by singer-songwriter Gregory Porter at Marian Anderson Hall in the Kimmel Center, part of the Jazz Series.
Gregory Porter plays Marian Anderson Hall on Monday, February 15, 2027, as part of the Jazz Series at the Kimmel Center. He's a jazz singer-songwriter who grew up in Bakersfield, California, and he points to two things as his foundation: the Bakersfield Southern Gospel sound and his mother's Nat King Cole record collection. He started singing in jazz clubs in San Diego while attending San Diego State University on a football scholarship, then moved to New York City to pursue music full-time.
His career took off with the 2010 album Water and the 2012 album Be Good, both of which earned Grammy nominations. In 2013, he released his Blue Note debut Liquid Spirit, which sold over a million copies and won him his first Grammy. He picked up a second Grammy for Take Me To The Alley in 2016, and since then has put out Nat King Cole & Me (2017), All Rise (2020), Still Rising (2021), and the holiday album Christmas Wish (2023). He also wrote "Good Goodbye" for the Netflix film Goodbye June.
