Chicago indie noise-rock band Friko plays The Foundry in Fishtown on its Something Worth Waiting For tour, presented by WXPN.
Friko play The Foundry on Saturday, October 24, as part of their Something Worth Waiting For tour. The Chicago indie band is the main draw, and they're bringing Nine Perfect Lives along to open the night. The show is presented by WXPN.
If you haven't come across them yet, Friko is a Chicago breakout that doesn't fit neatly into one box. Their sound pulls from noise-rock, avant-garde classical, and the kind of symphonic balladry that feels more at home in the 1970s than in a modern indie set. It's a strange mix that works—the noise-rock provides the grit, the classical elements bring the structure, and the balladry keeps it melodic. Their debut record landed on Pitchfork's best-of-year lists and earned them an NME cover, and since then they've been touring globally, sharing bills with The Flaming Lips and Modest Mouse.
