Skill-share afternoon of crafting and conversation for fiber artists of all skill levels, with a sewing machine available to use.
Fiber Friends is back at the Joseph E. Coleman Northwest Regional Library on Wednesday, October 21, starting at 1 PM. It's an afternoon of crafting and conversation for fiber artists, and it's open to all skill levels, so you don't need to be an expert to pull up a chair.
The session works as a skill share rather than an organized lesson. There's no set curriculum or instructor leading the room; instead, everyone brings their own project and works on it alongside other people. If you've been staring at a half-finished sweater or a piece of embroidery for weeks, this is a good place to finally get it done. The library provides a sewing machine for anyone who needs one, and some supplies are on hand, too. The rest is up to you—bring whatever you're currently working on, whether it's knitting, crochet, sewing, or something else entirely.
Because it's a skill share, the conversation is part of the point. You'll be working around other fiber artists, which makes it easy to ask a question when you hit a snag or show off a technique you've just figured out. It's as much about the company as it is about the crafting. The library lists the group among its arts and crafts programming, and it's aimed at adults, young adults, and seniors, so you'll likely find a mix of ages and experience levels in the room.
