Weekly Thursday volunteer session to prepare for fall, with pumpkin carving, crafts and decorating, through October 29.
Fall Fun Makers is happening at The Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education on Tuesday, October 20, and it's a volunteer session for anyone who wants to help get the center ready for its fall festival. Instead of just showing up to the party, you spend the morning helping build it.
The work is exactly what you'd expect from a fall festival: pumpkin carving, making crafts, and decorating. It's a DIY session, so you're hands-on with the prep rather than just watching it happen. If you're the kind of person who enjoys the making part as much as the event itself, this is your spot. You'll be working alongside other volunteers to put together the decorations and activities that will eventually welcome the crowds.
There's a nice trade for your time, too. Everyone who volunteers gets a ticket to the center's Halloween Hikes & Hayrides, so you'll have a reason to come back and see the finished result in action. It's a good way to get your foot in the door for the season and secure your spot for the hayrides while you're at it.
