Exhibition of mixed-media artwork by participants and staff artists of the Color Me Back program, curated by Cory Kram.
Expressive Textures: New Works from the Color Me Back Program opens at Suburban Station Studio on Thursday, October 22, from 4 PM to 6 PM. It's a mixed-media exhibition curated by artist Cory Kram, featuring work by the participants and staff artists of Color Me Back.
The show brings together individual and collaborative pieces made from paint, textiles, and recycled materials, built up in layers of color and texture. The work comes from Color Me Back, Mural Arts' same-day work and pay program, which runs at two sites—Kensington and Suburban Station. It combines participatory art-making with access to social services, offering wage-earning opportunities to people experiencing economic insecurity. The art you'll see here is the direct result of that process.
Expressive Textures is part of Mural Arts Month, the city's annual celebration of free, accessible public art. In 2026, the celebration expands beyond walls with a processional performance, an art crawl, and a river-to-river citywide exhibition. The show also sits alongside the Color Me Back Lovely Day Tour, which opens on October 22 at Walnut-Locust Station on South Broad Street and runs as daily tours from October 23 to 30.
