Emo Orchestra brings beloved emo songs to the stage with full orchestral arrangements, featuring The Spill Canvas and special guest Greywind.
Emo Orchestra brings a full orchestral take on emo to the Miller Theater on Thursday, November 19, with The Spill Canvas leading the way. It's presented by Ensemble Arts Philly, and the whole thing is built around taking some of the most beloved emo songs of a generation and rearranging them for a full orchestra.
On stage, The Spill Canvas plays their own hits alongside covers of Taking Back Sunday, Fall Out Boy, A Day to Remember, The Used, and several others. The orchestral arrangements run through the whole set, so you'll hear those familiar melodies backed by strings and brass instead of just the usual guitar and drums. It's a different way to hear songs that a lot of people grew up with, and the set pulls from a few different corners of the scene rather than sticking to one band.
Greywind joins as the special guest for the evening, so there's an opening act to round out the bill before the main event kicks off. The Spill Canvas takes the lead on the orchestral arrangements, playing their own material and those covers back-to-back.
