Disney's FROZEN The Broadway Musical, with music and lyrics by Kristen and Robert Lopez, directed by Michael Grandage, brings the beloved animated film to the stage.
Disney's FROZEN The Broadway Musical opens at the Walnut Street Theatre on November 17, 2026, and runs through January 3, 2027. Previews start on the 17th, with the official opening on November 25. It's a long run that takes you right through the holidays, so you've got plenty of time to catch it.
If you know the story, you're halfway there. It's set in the mountainous kingdom of Arendelle and follows sisters Anna and Elsa, who grow up sheltered inside their castle. When Elsa is crowned queen, the magical powers she's spent her life trying to hide take control, and she flees into the mountains, leaving a ferocious winter in her wake. Anna sets off to find her, joined along the way by the ice harvester Kristoff, his reindeer Sven, and the snowman Olaf. The whole thing is based on Hans Christian Andersen's 1844 fairy tale The Snow Queen, which Disney turned into a movie in 2013.
There's a bit more to the stage version than just the movie songs. The production adds twelve new songs written specifically for the theater, alongside the ones you already know: "For the First Time in Forever," "Do You Want to Build a Snowman?" and "Let It Go." The music and lyrics are by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, with the book by Jennifer Lee. This particular production is directed by Glenn Casale.

For a bit of context, the show first opened on Broadway in March 2018, where it earned three Tony Award nominations and was originally directed by Michael Grandage. It's been touring since then, and this is its Philadelphia stop. The Walnut Street Theatre is at 825 Walnut Street, and for groups of 15 or more, tickets start at $55. Every ticket includes a $2.50 historic preservation fee per show.
