Community craft gathering at Wynnefield Library where adults, young adults and seniors share skills in crocheting, quilting, knitting, sewing and felting.
Crochet Club: Sisters Interacting Through Stitches meets at Wynnefield Library on Saturday, October 24, at 1 PM. It's a community craft gathering run by the library, and the name is a bit of a giveaway: it's about people getting together to work with their hands. While crochet is in the title, the group covers a lot more ground than that—crocheting, quilting, knitting, sewing, and felting all fit under one roof.
One of the best things about it is that it's open to all skill levels. You don't have to be an expert to show up; it's as much about sharing skills as it is about working on your own project. If you've been crocheting for years, you might find yourself showing a beginner how to hold the hook, and if you're just starting out, there's plenty of experienced help in the room. That exchange is a big part of why it works.
Throughout the year, the club works on special projects tied to specific causes. They've focused on Autism Acceptance, Women's History, and Heart Health Awareness, so the work often goes toward something larger than a single piece. They also partner with the Wynnefield Residents Association on community events, which keeps the group connected to the neighborhood.
