Voter education session at Bustleton Library to review the offices, candidates and ballot measures on the upcoming election ballot.
Committee of Seventy is hosting a voter prep session at Bustleton Library on Thursday, October 22, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM. It's part of the library's Community Impact Week, and it's open to adults, young adults and seniors, so it's a good one to bring a neighbor or a parent along to.
The whole point is to get you ready for the upcoming election. They'll walk through the different offices on the ballot, the candidates running for them, and the ballot measures you'll be voting on. Beyond just what's on the page, they'll cover the key issues at play and how to research them on your own, so you can go into the booth knowing where you stand rather than guessing at the last second.
If you're not familiar with the spot, Bustleton Library is at 10190 Bustleton Avenue, right at Verree Road and Bustleton Avenue in Northeast Philly. The current building opened on October 1, 1965, on land donated by the Philadelphia Board of Education. It's a one-story brick structure designed by Alexander Ewing and Associates, Architects and Engineers, and it cost $337,300 to build. Inside, there's a carved wood mural called Man's Learning Preserved by James House, Jr.
