Circle Up Mural Dedication

Mural Arts Philadelphia and COMHAR are dedicating Circle Up, a new mural by Eric Okdeh and Cody Stuhltrager, on Thursday, November 12, at COMHAR in Kensington. The dedication runs from 12 PM to 1 PM at 3147 Emerald St, and it's free to attend.

Circle Up grew out of a mentoring relationship between Okdeh, a teaching artist, and Stuhltrager, who learned mural-making while incarcerated at SCI Graterford in the 2010s. Their shared experience creating and teaching art through Mural Arts Philadelphia's Restorative Justice Program sits at the heart of the work, and the project brings that relationship full circle: the two led design workshops with artists at SCI Phoenix, members of The Guild—Mural Arts' reentry and job readiness program—and members and staff of COMHAR's Open Door Clubhouse, a mental health-focused job training and community center. The mural is a dedication to that process as much as the finished piece.

The dedication is presented by Mural Arts Philadelphia and COMHAR. It's free, from 12 PM to 1 PM on November 12, at 3147 Emerald St in Kensington.
