One-hour session of gentle chair yoga, using a chair instead of a mat, suitable for all levels and ages, led by Janet McAllister Faulls.
Janet McAllister Faulls is leading chair yoga at the Thomas F. Donatucci, Sr. Library on Wednesday, October 28, at 11:30 AM. It's a one-hour session, and if you can't make this one, she's also teaching on Wednesday, October 14, at the same time and place.
If you've never tried chair yoga, the basic idea is that you swap the traditional mat for a chair as your main prop. You use it for seating and for balance, which makes the practice a lot more accessible for anyone who finds it hard to put pressure on their knees and wrists. Because of that, it works for all levels and all ages—you don't need any prior experience to join in.
There's a nice bit of context to keep in mind, too. The word yoga comes from Sanskrit, and it can mean either 'to concentrate' or 'to connect,' which pretty much sums up what these sessions are about. Janet McAllister Faulls is a registered yoga teacher with more than 13 years of experience teaching here in Philadelphia, and she describes her classes as gentle, hour-long practices open to all comers. You're encouraged to dress comfortably.
