Free 30-minute weekly chair yoga session for older adults and those with mobility issues, held on Mondays at the David Cohen Ogontz Library.
Chair Yoga is back at the David Cohen Ogontz Library on Monday, October 26, at 12 PM. It's part of Community Impact Week, and the session runs for 30 minutes, from 12 PM to 12:30 PM. It's a regular thing, tooโmost Mondays, 12 PM to 12:30 PM.
If you've never tried it, chair yoga takes its poses from the ancient Indian practice of yoga. The word itself comes from the classical language Sanskrit, where it can mean either 'to concentrate' or 'to connect.' Instead of a traditional mat, the chair serves as the main prop, which makes the practice far more accessible to people who find it painful to put pressure on their knees and wrists. It's suitable for all levels and ages, so you don't need any prior experience to join in.
The sessions are tailored for older adults and those with mobility issues, though all adults are welcome. The half-hour format is designed to be relaxing and easy to fit into your day, so you can come in, stretch, and get back to whatever else you've got going on without it taking over your whole afternoon.
