First-time concert pairing of saxophonist Branford Marsalis and vocalist Dianne Reeves, drawing on their album 'Dedicated to You' as a tribute to John Coltrane.
Branford Marsalis and Dianne Reeves play the Zellerbach Theatre on Friday, February 5, 2027. It's their first time recording and performing together, and the set is built around their new release, Dedicated to You.
The album is a tribute to John Coltrane's 1963 collaboration with Johnny Hartman, and the concert marks the centenary of Coltrane's birth. Marsalis, on saxophone, and Reeves, on vocals, are both NEA Jazz Masters and multi-Grammy Award winners, and they're bringing the record to the stage as part of the Zellerbach Theatre's 26/27 season.
Marsalis isn't playing solo; he's backed by his quartet: pianist Joey Calderazzo, bassist Eric Revis, and drummer Justin Faulkner. With the quartet behind them, the night will center on the material from Dedicated to You and the Coltrane-Hartman collaboration it looks back to.
