Adrian Belew, Steve Vai, Tony Levin and Terry Bozzio perform the music of King Crimson on the final North American BEAT Tour.
BEAT plays the Academy of Music on Sunday, November 15, as part of their final North American tour. The group brings together guitarists Adrian Belew and Steve Vai, bassist Tony Levin and drummer Terry Bozzio to reinterpret the music of King Crimson from 1981 to 1984. The set leans on the albums Discipline, Beat and Three Of A Perfect Pair.
It's more than a tribute. Levin was a longtime King Crimson member, and Belew appeared with several incarnations of the group. The band describes that era of Crimson as "timeless, beautiful, complex and fierce," and Belew has said the fall tour adds material from the 1990s, which may be the audience's last chance to hear the group play those songs. The show is also a farewell: it's billed as the final North American BEAT Tour, which kicked off on October 9 in Santa Cruz.
