A hardcore punk concert featuring Bad Luck 13, Chopped Up, Hard Turf, Salik, Cheddabreed and Ring Rust at Underground Arts.
Bad Luck 13 are back at Underground Arts on Sunday, November 1, for the Bad Luck 13 Riot Extravaganza. If you've never heard the name, Bad Luck 13 was a Philadelphia hardcore band known for live shows that leaned more toward mayhem than music. A typical set featured wrestling, blood, and chaos: the band beat its own members with blunt objects like trash cans and ladders, and they were just as likely to break out fire-breathing and other arsonist stunts. They've since disbanded, with two members going on to form the hardcore band The Dead Meat.
Their discography runs back to the late nineties and early two-thousands. It includes Bats on the Dance Floor (Temperance Records, 1998), We Kill Children (Too Damn Hype Records, 2000), Killadelphia (a 2001 split with Punishment), Live At The Dungeon (a 2001 split with All Else Failed on Supermodel Records), and With Friends Like These Who Needs Enemies (Resurrection A.D. Records, 2002). The Riot Extravaganza brings that reputation back to the stage.
They aren't the only ones on the bill. Chopped Up, Hard Turf, Salik, Cheddabreed, and Ring Rust are all set to play alongside them, so it's a full night of hardcore rather than a single act. Underground Arts has been a staple of the city's music and art community for over a decade, and it's hosting the whole thing at 1200 Callowhill St in Philadelphia.
