The History of Science Museum, part of the University of Oxford, is housed in the Old Ashmolean Building on Broad Street. Built in 1683, it is the world's oldest surviving purpose-built public museum building. It was created to house the collection of Elias Ashmole and became a centre of Oxford science in the late 1600s.

Free weekend afternoon of hands-on activities with the museum's scientific collections, run by volunteers, with Light & Space backpacks for families.

Weekly Wednesday drop-in with the museum's volunteers to look through Victorian microscopes at everyday objects in detail.
