Weekly community singing group open to all abilities and confidence levels, with songs from around the world, pop and folk.
Shall We Sing? is back at 8 Stansfield Close in Headington on Thursday 30 November, one of its regular Thursday sessions. It's a community singing group that's open to all voices, and the whole thing is about learning songs by ear rather than reading them off a page. If you've never sung in a group before, that's a good place to start: there's no sheet music to worry about, just listening and joining in.
The repertoire is wide, with songs from around the world alongside pop and folk. Because they learn by ear, the focus is on the sound of the room rather than getting every note exactly right from a score. It's a community group, so it's as much about the people as the music.
They describe themselves as a warm, fun and holding group, open to all singing abilities and all levels of confidence. That's a fair way to put it: it's a space for anyone who wants to sing, whether you've spent years in choirs or you've never sung in front of another person in your life. The 'holding' part suggests a welcoming atmosphere where you can just show up and fit in, regardless of where you're starting from.
