Open-top bus decorated with Christmas lights that travels through Oxford's streets as part of the Oxford Christmas Light Festival.
The Oxford Christmas Light Bus is back on the streets from Friday 13 to Sunday 15 November, run by Oxford Bus Company. It's an open-top bus draped in hundreds of twinkling Christmas lights, and it spends those three days travelling across the city. If you're out and about in the evenings, you'll spot it passing through the streets within the Ring Road.
The bus is one part of the wider Oxford Christmas Light Festival, which is led by Oxford City Council in partnership with cultural organisations and funded by the council. The festival brings together light parades, lantern trails, music, crafts and community celebrations across Oxford. Councillor Susan Brown, Leader of Oxford City Council, says it brings communities and residents together as the city heads into the festive season.
There are a few regular fixtures to look out for. The Rose Hill Light Parade returns, and there's the festive Light Trail in Cutteslowe Park. The Victorian Christmas Market also comes back to Broad Street, starting on Thursday 12 November, the day before the bus begins its run. If you're feeling handy, you can get involved yourself: 'Glow Your Own' is a series of webinars run by IF Oxford that guide you through building a programmable LED display, and the festival website has resources for making simple lanterns.
