Weekly Friday life drawing session, untutored and open to artists of all abilities, with easels and boards provided.
OX4 Life Drawing is back at The Old Schoolhouse this Friday 30 October, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. It's one of those steady, weekly fixtures of the Oxford art scene, and if you've never been, it's a straightforward way to get some drawing time in without much fuss.
The group runs untutored life drawing sessions, which means there's no teacher leading the room or telling you how to approach the pose. You just set up and work at your own pace, and because it's open to artists of all abilities, you'll find a mix of people in the room — some who've been coming for years and others who've only just picked up a pencil. It's a friendly, low-pressure environment, so it works as well for a first-timer as it does for someone who draws every week.
One of the best things about it is that you don't need to book. There's no ticket to buy in advance and no list to get your name on; you just turn up on the night. The group provides the easels and the boards, so you don't have to lug the heavy gear across town — you only need to bring your own drawing materials, whatever you prefer to work with. It's a drop-in setup, which makes it easy to fit into a Friday evening without planning weeks ahead.

The session runs from 6.30pm to 8.30pm at The Old Schoolhouse, in The Irving Building on Hertford Street, Oxford, OX4 3AJ. One practical thing to keep in mind: they don't let anyone in after 6.30pm, so it's worth arriving a few minutes early to get your spot sorted before the session gets underway.
