Choreographer Andreas Heise brings Mozart's songs and piano music to life in a fusion of movement, words and music, with soprano Juliane Banse and dancer István Simon.
Juliane Banse is back in Oxford on Friday 23 October, performing Mozart: Bliss Beside Us at the Sohmen Concert Hall in the Stephen A. Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities. It's a return to the Oxford International Song Festival for this particular team, who last appeared here in 2023 with Schubert's Winterreise—a performance The Guardian called unforgettable, noting how the choreography worked alongside the singing.
The format is the same as before: choreographer Andreas Heise brings Mozart's songs and piano music to life in a fusion of movement, words and music. Soprano Juliane Banse trained as a dancer before pursuing her singing career, which lets her interact with and complement dancer István Simon, a Principal Dancer in Budapest, Dresden and Dortmund. They're joined by pianist Alexander Krichel, one of today's leading pianists and a former ECHO Klassik winner. Costumes are by the luxury brand UY Studio.
