Weekly free Saturday organ recitals by eight organists from Oxford and beyond in the Magdalen College Chapel.
Magdalen College is running a series of organ recitals in the Magdalen College Chapel this autumn, with the first one kicking off on Saturday 24 October. It's a weekly thing from there, running every Saturday through to 5 December, so there are seven more to follow the opener.
Over the course of the series, eight different organists — some from Oxford, some coming in from further afield — each take a turn at the console. Every recital is roughly 35 minutes long, which is a decent length for a midday break without taking up your whole afternoon. Because each one brings their own programme, you'll hear eight different takes on the organ rather than one long concert stretched across the weeks.
It's a good way to see how different players approach the same instrument. If you're not sure where to start, you can just drop in for one and see how you like it, or keep coming back as the weeks go by. Since they're spread out every Saturday, you can pick and choose the ones that fit your schedule.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Oxford and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.

Each recital starts at 12 noon in the Magdalen College Chapel, which is part of Magdalen College on High Street, Oxford OX1 4AU. Entry is free, so there's nothing to book or pay in advance — just turn up on a Saturday at midday.
