Untutored, mindful life drawing session on a Saturday morning at the Jericho Community Centre, with models, materials and easels provided.
Life Drawing Jericho is back at the Jericho Community Centre on Saturday 17 October, and it's one of those things that runs for a few months rather than just a one-off. The sessions run on alternate Saturday mornings throughout the autumn: 17 and 31 October, 14 and 28 November, and 12 December, all from 11:00am to 1:00pm. If you're around on those dates, you can drop in for one or stick with it for the whole run.
The sessions are run in association with Urban Life Drawing and the JCA, and they're described as an untutored, mindful approach to life drawing. That's the key part: it's not a class where someone's hovering over your shoulder correcting your proportions. You're there to draw, and the 'mindful' bit suggests the focus is more on the process of looking and marking the page than on getting a perfect result. It's a bright, airy space to settle into for a couple of hours on a Saturday morning.
There is a bit of a twist, though. While the sessions are untutored, they occasionally bring in practising artists to give some tuition, so you might get a bit of guidance on the days they're around. The fee covers the model, the materials, the easels, and the boards, so you don't need to lug your own gear in with you. Places are filled on a first-come, first-served basis on the day, but booking is advised if you want to be sure you've got a spot.
